Our Founder

Jingcai Ying, J.D. and Ph.D.
Lawyer
Biography
Born and raised in two commercial cities of China (Wenzhou and Shanghai), I was educated in both Canada and the United States. Fascinated by the high ideals of Western and Chinese philosophies, I pursued and received my Ph.D. in political philosophy from the University of Virginia (US). Desiring to apply the same high ideals to practice, I went into law and obtained my J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University.
After practicing with a Bay Street law firm for a number of years, I realized that my passion was to advocate for my clients on tax and estates matters. To pursue my litigation vocation in these two areas of law, I decided to start my own practice and founded Gaudium Law, a firm that is all about tax and estates!
Outside of law, I am a parishioner of St. Andre Bessette Parish (Vaughan, ON). I am also an avid soccer fan and a practitioner of Filipino Martial Arts.
